Skin care is something that I have always struggled with and it is something that I never gave any importance ever in my life until I turn 30. Only routine I use to follow during my university days is to go to a salon for cleansing once in two months or had my st.Ives scrub at home. Apart from that I had no idea what facial oils were or about serums or about any face products available in the market.
After I became a mom and when I turned 30, realty starts to kick in. My face skin looks dull, tired and exhausted all the time with varying skin tones. I can see all that but still I was lazy about starting a skin care regimen for myself because I didn’t have the time and energy to focus on my skin when I had too many other responsibilities that are my priority.
But soon I realized that I need to take care of my self too and not lose my self under those responsibilities. I need to look good and fresh for my own self,not for anyone else. Hence I started following a very basic skin care routine that I know I can atleast follow on daily basis.
All mommies who are like me and so wanted to take of their skin but it seems like a big task, hold on there. I am in a same boat but mommies don’t you want to feel good about yourself too? You are you first before you become a mom or a wife. But yes I know how tiring it can be and you can only follow a regimen if you want to.
Anyways I started following a very basic skin care routine with basic products (nothing fancy) at night time and in the morning. If I can follow that then believe me you can too. 😊
Step 1: Use your favorite cleanser/face wash to cleanse your face. Choose a cleanser according to your skin type.
Twice in a week exfoliate your skin after cleanser. You can exfoliate while taking shower too to save your your time at bed time. This is what I usually do.
Step 2: Apply toner with a face cotton pad.
Step 3: If you have a derma roller, excellent, but if you don’t, invest in one. Massage for about two minutes. It helps in blood circulation, to absorb the product into your skin and makes skin soft and supple.
Step 4: Apply your favorite moisturizer. My personal favorite is Body Shop Vitamin E moisturizer which suits my oily skin perfectly. I use day cream both at night and during the day. It’s also a great moisturizer to apply before makeup. It’s non greasy and absorbs into skin really quick.
Step 1: Wash your face.
Step 2: Apply Vitamin C serum. I am currently using Galactomyces Pure Vitamin C Glow Serum by “Some By MI”. It’s the very first vitamin C serum that I started using. If anyone of you is unsure about which vitamin C serum to start with. This is a great option. It’s light in concentration, absorbent and without any smell.
For the first timers, it’s recommended to use a vitamin C serum which does not have a heavy concentration of vitamin C to get your skin use to it first. You can always switch later.
Step 3. Apply sunscreen even if you remain indoors through the day. Your skin will thank you later down the line. I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen.
I was kind of a person who only applies sunscreen when I go on a picnic. I didn’t have any idea that how important a sunscreen is for your skin on daily basis even if you stay indoors most of the time. It has many other benefits apart from UV rays protection.

So that’s it. That’s how basic my daily skin routine is. You can see that I use minimum amount of products but I have started to use them religiously since last two to three months and I can see the difference on my skin.
If no one else notices, you will notice it yourself when you see yourself in the mirror everyday.
